Intellectual Disability in India : Briefing and Issues to be addressed
The concept of mental retardation has been widened as of now and is now considered as Intellectual disability, as metal retardation is considered as highly negative term. The disability arises and found in cases ranging from minimum 1 to maximum 32 per 1000 persons depending upon the location and target population of the study. Thus if we consider, then it forms a significant proportion of the people. Gone were the days when this community was ignored in by various societal classes and also by the key people connected to them.
